Peter Briger is the current Co-CEO at Fortress. He is considered one of the most influential business leaders in the country. He is listed by Forbes magazine among their list of top 400 most influential business leaders.
Education
Peter Briger attended Princeton University. In 1986 he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He attended the Wharton School of Business for his MBA.
Career
After completing his bachelor’s degree, he joined Goldman Sachs. At the time he was only an entry-level graduate trainee. Over the next fifteen years, he would work his way up and by the time he was a partner. His career at Goldman Sachs would prepare him for future roles at Fortress in ways he did not see at the time. He was a member of various committees and funds of the bank and got an opportunity to become an advisory at the IFC. His leadership capabilities revealed themselves at Goldman Sachs when he took over some of the funds. He was also exposed to the management of distressed assets at Goldman. This is one of the most important skills he ever learned as he as widely applied it at Fortress. In 2002 he Joined the Fortress Investment Group. At the time it was not a big private equity fund but was showing signs of growth. He would be entrusted with establishing and growing their credit division where Peter Briger is the current principal. Philanthropy and other interest
Peter Briger is passionate about entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Princeton Entrepreneurship council and was one of the first people to fund the Princeton Alumni Entrepreneurship Fund. He has committed his time and resources and time to this cause in a big way. He is also a member of the foreign relations council. Here they advise leaders and citizens about foreign affairs and the role they play in today’s America. His philanthropic endeavors support children, education and the alleviation of poverty.
